Issue:
The "org.hibernate.PessimisticLockException: could not execute statement" error is encountered when the addLogMethod is executed. This exception is thrown at the point where the repo.save(entity) method is called. The root cause of this error lies in pessimistic locking that is imposed by a outer transaction, which is currently suspended due to the initiation of a inner transaction.
Analysis
Interestingly, the log entity being saved as part of the addLogMethod does not belong to the outer transaction. However, there is a foreign key relationship between this entity and the table that is indeed associated with the outer transaction. This linkage between the foreign key and the tables from the outer transaction seems to be preventing the latest transaction from gaining control over those tables.
I verified the inner transaction can read the data from the table, which is locked as part of an outer transaction, but not sure what is happening at the time of saving the log entity, which is not used in an outer transaction. if it was Pessimistic.WRITE lock then read operation shouldn't be allowed
Solutions: There is a solution to address this issue. One approach involves executing all the operations in a single transaction, effectively eliminating the problem.
However, I am very much curious about the reason for the issue, and what type of lock is acquired by the outer transaction which prevents adding a new entry in the log table which is associated with foreign key constraints to the locked table ?.
